MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM

Rules for Membership

  1. Life Membership:
      All surgeons exhibiting interest in cancer surgery sufficiently demonstrated in their work/ practicing cancer surgeons/ surgeons who have completed an acceptable training in cancer surgery are eligible for becoming life members. The EC has the sole right to decide the eligibility in case of a dispute. Members could be.
      1. General Surgeons who have an additional Qualification in Surgical Oncology (MCh, DNB, equivalent foreign degree or a regular 2 year training in a Cancer Hospital) or.
      2. Surgeons from surgical disciplines involved in the treatment of cancer with an additional qualification (MCh. DNB, or a regular 3 year training program in a Cancer Hospital) or,
      3. Surgeons from any surgical discipline with recommendation letters from two founding NASO members or NASO members of more than 5 years standing in NASO stating the applicant's
      4. I) interest in Surgical Oncology
        II) integrity. (The format of the recommendation letter provided in annexure)
      5. Any past Associate Member from surgical disciplines who fulfils the above criteria will automatically be promoted as a full Member without any additional fees.
      6. The fee for Life membership will be Rs. 2,000 (Rs. Two thousand only).
  2. Associate Membership:

    Those who have qualified under a surgical broad speciality (MS/DNB (Gen Surgery).MD/DNB/DGO (Gynecology), and MS/ DNB/DLO (ENT) duly registered under the Medical Council of India and are undergoing training (2 years or more) in a Surgical Oncology training program(M.Ch./Dr.N.B./Fellowship/Residency in an Oncology Department/Cancer Centre) can become Associate member by paying membership fee prescribed from time to time by the Executive Committee.

  3. Overseas Member:

    A Surgical Oncologist practicing abroad (with necessary accreditation in Surgical Oncology by respective National body/authority), who is duly proposed and seconded by a 'Member, and after proper scrutiny of the proposal, recommended by the Executive Council and approved by the General Body shall, on payment of the fee prescribed by Executive Committee, be admitted as an Overseas Member for life.

    1. Rights & Privileges:
        An Overseas Member shall be entitled to:
        1. Participate in all activities of the NASO.
        2. Constitute the Business Meeting/General Body Meeting together with the other Members.
        3. Membership and privileges resulting from the affiliation of the NASO to various International bodies.
    2. However, an Overseas Member shall not be entitled for election to the Executive Committee.
    3. Should an Overseas Member decide to settle in India, he/she, on intimating to the NASO of his/her intention to become a Life Member, and on submission of proof of his/her having become a resident Indian, will be admitted by the Executive Committee to the "Life Membership" of the NASO, without any further subscription.
    4. Fees - The induction fee for overseas member will be US Dollars 300 or as may be prescribed by the Executive Committee from time to time.
